This article is aimed at those business travelers who live on planes whilst they are roaming the world. This article is aimed at those who constantly use their business smartphone to keep in touch with colleagues, family and friends back home. I want you to stop spending exorbitant amounts on roaming charges- don't be like a client of ours who ended up spending thousands of dollars within the space of about 10 minutes walking from one end of an airport in the USA to the other. If you follow the tips I have mentioned, you won't have to worry about scrounging around for change to use a payphone and you will be able to keep in touch. Here are 5 tips to follow.

Get an international SIM card- International SIM cards, often also referred to as global SIM cards or roaming SIM cards, will save you a fortune. Your outgoing calls will be much cheaper than using your home mobile phone and with deals constantly being agreed to in most of the popular travel destinations there won't be any costs to receive calls. (It is this cost to receive mobile calls that harms most people as it isn't something you normally would think about whilst you are at home.

Upgrade to a smartphone with WiFI- There are many reasons you should get a smartphone whilst you are at home but they are also damn useful whilst travelling- especially if they have WiFI. You can hook into one of the many free networks that litter major metropolitan centres or at your hotel and download all of your emails without any worry about exorbitant roaming data charges.

Download the right Apps to your smart phone- One of the best apps for a smart phone is the Skype App. This means that you can make free VoIP calls to other Skype account holders anywhere in the world.

Add your new international SIM number to your business card- It's one thing to have an international SIM card but it's another to have people actually call you on this number. If you are a regular traveler overseas you should put your new International mobile number on your business card so that people can get in contact with you and will be more predisposed to using your international SIM card number (as it is on your business card.)

Change your voicemail on your home mobile phone and turn it off- I tell people to change their voicemail message on their home mobile phone and then leave it turned off. Tell people you are travelling and get them to call you on the other number.

An international SIM card is a must have for everyone who frequently makes trips out of his home country. It is a cost saving way to stay in touch with the people and stay updated. Keeping up with the latest news back home no longer has to mean burning through money for even the shortest calls.
